GRIT- has little ice or snow melt properties and only provides grip for vehicles. Often bagged and has a coures sand texture. Very difficult to spread with any pedestrian spreader due to high moisture content and texture.

ROAD SALT - has a gritty appearance but it is not'grit'. The salt works by lowering the freezing point of moisture on the road surface and needs to be crushed by the traffic and dissolve to be effective. Is less effective below -5C and has virtually no effect below -10C

PROCESSED SALTS - white de-icing salt is of a higher purity and does not containa high proprotion of insoluble impurities that create a muddy sludge associated with road salt and grit. Processed salt is clean and leaves little or no residue on the ground.

Use Extreme SupaCote Ice Melt at 20 gms/sq m at setting 17 in red hopper spreaders. material spreads 14ft (4.2m) and flows smoothly through the three hole drop giving an even spread pattern at a precise application rate. SupaCote provides 80% less corrosion than standard materials protecting the surface it is applied to and the spreader. This is a very low cost application.
